Steve's Car

Steve, Heavy, and Austin worked on the decals all evening. The first race is supposed to be tomorrow night, but it's supposed to rain. We had to have the car ready just in case the sun pops out and the races go on!

Greetings from the Nut House!

I was trying to take a picture of my bump to post on here. Steve came in and decided to be a comedian and then Buzzy wanted in the picture too. He was in the bathtub and I made him cover himself with the washcloth. Does this look like a nut house or what?? I've got a belly and Steve is sucking his in and then there is little Larry the Cable Guy throwing up the peace sign! There's no place like home!
Buzzy went to Owensboro with MiMi and Pappy after school yesterday. MiMi told me he had a little wreck. He has taken after his graceful Momma and Pappy. We have a hard time walking and keeping our balance. Buzzy was walking down a sidewalk with his hands in his pockets, got a little tripped up and fell nose first onto the sidewalk. When he got home, he told me that a grasshopper had tripped him. Really.

Take me out to the TEEEEEE Ball Game!!

Last night was the first T-Ball practice.

Ain't they cute!!

Who said I don't cook...

I have been on a roll this weekend. Friday night we had steak, roasted potatoes, and this yummy dessert. Monday night we had pork chops, green beans, mac and cheese and brownies. And the last night, we had oven fried chicken ( MY ABSOLUTE, ALL TIME FAVORITE!!!!!) fried okra, and corn of the cob. I don't know what is wrong with me, but it is nice to have something other than take out. Since I was "challenged" by my blog buddies, although a long time ago, to post new recipes, this is my first. It is angel food cake with a crushed pineapple concoction filling and fresh strawberries. Steve ate almost the whole thing by himself. Buzzy and I got one small piece each and there was very little left when I threw it out. I think someone sneaks in the refrigerator when I go to bed at night!! Post a comment if you want the recipe. I'm taking tonight off on cooking. Steve wants pizza rolls - YUK. So me and Buzzy will probably have Pizza Time!!

Church Easter Egg Hunt

The church always has an egg hunt for the little one's the Saturday before Easter. We went and it was so cold!
I had the sweetest picture of Buzzy "showing" me all of his finds and of course it didn't save and I have already deleted it from my camera. This is the alternative picture. He found, I think, 32 eggs. He was so excited. We had to take them to MiMi's to show her and Pappy. Then the next morning, the Easter bunny hid them while MiMi and Pappy were at church. Buzzy got to find them all over again.

Easter Fun

The pre-school class went on an egg hunt today at The Courtyard. It's the assisted living in town and they host the hunt every year for the pre-school classes. They provided everything for the hunt. They made a picture frame craft.
Then they had their picture made with the Easter Bunny
Then they hunted their eggs while the glue dried on their picture frames. Then they went in for snacks and received their pictures of them and the bunny. This is Cooper. They are inseparable! When the teachers told the children to line up to go hunt the eggs, Buzzy and Cooper were so excited that they jumped up and down and then had to hug! I am so glad that he has such a good friend. Coopers grandmother is Buzzy's Sunday School teacher and Coopers grandfather it the Tootsie Roll man at church. They were there with Cooper today and Buzzy just loves them too! He asked me one day how Cooper's Papaw makes all those Tootsie Rolls and I told him that maybe he has one of those candy makers like we watch when we are in the mountains!

Now.. Listen to a Story 'bout a man named Jed...

Yep, those are chickens. Yep, they are on my sunporch. Pappy and MiMi took Buzzy to get the coop on Sunday and I went and got the chicks this morning. They are so sweet. This is the closest MiMi is going to get, for now, to having chickens! She has tried and tried and Pappy won't cooperate. We finally talked him into the coop, as long as it is at our house! They are bantam chickens and I can't wait until they are big enough to tell if they are roosters or hens. By then, of course, they will be outside. For all of the readers who aren't from Kentucky, look what you are missing!! Just call us the Clampetts! Steve is Jethro, I'm Ellie Mae, Mimi is Granny, and Pappy is Jed!! I guess Buzzy is one of Ellie's Mae's pet monkeys! Maybe this summer, we can get a cement pond!

Birthday Practice

Buzzy and MiMi baked a cake today after school. He has been writing out his own recipes and said he's going to make his own cookbook. The other night, he drew a picture of a cake and then had Steve write down all the ingredients. He told me to get them when I went to the store. He wrote down super-duper baking powder, sugar, blueberries, pink icing and I can't remember what else. I went to WalMart and got him a confetti cake, vanilla icing, and sprinkles. He and MiMi put it all together today. He found some candles in the drawer and had to practice blowing out the candles for his birthday. He practiced making a wish too! We will have to see what he wished for. I'm sure he won't keep it a secret long!

Just Say NO to Credit Cards!

Buzzy has decided that he likes Tommy better than K. He's not mean to her, but when I ask if he wants her to come over, he says no, but Tommy can. Anyway, K came over yesterday to help me clean on my sunporch and Buzzy wasn't being very hospitable. The conversation went something like this - remember, K was present during this!

ME: If your not nice to K she won't get you a birthday present.

BUZZY: That's okay. Everyone else will get me presents and besides, I don't want a credit card. That's what she got me last time and I don't want no credit cards!!!!!

We laughed our tails off. If it had been anyone but Kara, I would have died. She thought it was hilarious too. Honesty is the best policy, I guess? In case you don't know, credit card is the same as a gift card!

Snow Day

Buzzy is always excited when it snows. Whether it's a dusting or a blizzard doesn't matter to him. It started snowing Thursday and by the time Steve got home on Friday, Buzzy had waited about as long as he could stand it. Steve had to go and get Buzzy new boots, because our beloved canine likes to chew on shoes. So Buzzy had to wait all day for his shoes. They played just a little on Friday afternoon. It snowed all day and all night so we woke up to a true "winter wonderland!" Buzzy started out on the sled behind the Rhino. Banjo is the silliest dog. He won't ride in the Rhino, he chases behind. He stayed right beside Buzzy on the way to MiMi and Pappy's until Buzzy got tired of the snow blowing up in his face. He decided about half way there that he wanted to get on and ride with me and Steve!
When we got to Mimi's. Buzzy and Daddy hit the slopes/driveway!
I think Steve only took one trip on the saucer. Buzzy and I raced each other. We each had a tire track and Steve would push him and down the hill we would go! It took me a minute to get the hang of sledding again! I haven't rode a sled in a long time and my belly made it a little challenging as well! It was so much fun!
Pappy couldn't stand watching us have all that fun! He watched from the garage and then we heard the 4-wheeler start and here he came!! We played until we couldn't go anymore and then went in for some chili at MiMi's. When we left, Banjo decided to stay at MiMi's. I know he had to be tired after running all the way there. MiMi called when we got home and said that Banjo was on her porch whining like a puppy. He knew his momma had left him! Steve took the Tahoe over there and got him. Now, are all of my boys spoiled or what?

My Masterpiece

I am by no means bragging, but this turned out way better than I thought it would. Just took me two weeks! It's going in my bathroom, if I can keep K from stealing it.

SnowMAN

This may offend some, but well...welcome to my world. This is what my boys built on the hood of my Tahoe.
**I redeem myself on the next post.

I Just Liked this.

Found http://homegrownhospitality.typepad.com/homegrown_hospitality/2008/02/the-thrill-of-v.html through a scrapbook blog that I read regularly. Just liked it.

Trash Talking

I got Steve and Buzzy an XBox for Christmas. We took Buzzy to the motorcross thingy at the Convention Center a couple of weekends ago and that's all he talks about now. He wanted to go that night and get an XBox motorcross game. We got him one for Valentine's Day and everynight for a few nights this is what I have gotten to watch. This was mild. When they first start it gets a little heated. They either play this or they play Big Game Hunter where they hunt either deer, elk or bobcats. Such a treat!

We have a Name....

Our new baby's name is Jack Henry. And if there is a nickname, it has to be Buster. That is the only one that we will accept. Ok, now I know you want to know why on all of the names. Jack, of course, is after Jackie Lee, my dad. Henry is after my grandfather who's name was James Henry, and his father who's name was Henry Franklin. My grandfather was known, like Buzzy, by his nickname - Buster. I did not know my grandfather, because he passed away before I was born. I feel like I did know him, because I have been told so many stories about him from not only my parents, but so many family members and even people that were not kin to him. He was a very well liked person and I have never heard one negative thing about him. My Mamaw used to always tell me how much he would have loved me because he loved children, but especially little girls. Me and one other cousin, I think, are the only ones that didn't get to know him. He always gave nicknames to his grandchildren too. Steve and I decided last night on the name because we were afraid that MiMi would come up with a silly nickname that would stick. I give her credit, she has been trying hard, but luckily nothing has stuck. We feel safer giving him a name ahead of time, this time!

Paging Dr. Ashley

My Mother isn't someone that gets excited easily. So...for her to call Steve on his cell phone (something she never does), ask him to come to her house now (something else she would never do), and bring something to cut thread (huh?) means something isn't right. Well add into the equation a little boy named Buzzy and things begin to make sense.
Buzzy had to play with her thread today. She told him not to wrap it around his finger too tight, so what does he do? Wraps as much as he can, as tight as he can around his finger. MiMi stayed calm, but she wasn't far from panic. His finger was a nice shade of lilac. Steve had to use his razor blade pocket knife to cut a little away at a time.
Buzzy was cooperative, which is shocking.
Once the thread was off, he decided his finger was hot. He had to cool it in the freezer.
Thank goodness the color gradually came back. Boys! And I'm going to have two! I am living the opposite life that my Dad did. He was always in a house of girls; me, mom, and every animal we ever had (with the exception of horses) were female. Now I live in a house that has all males; Steve, Buzzy, new baby, hamster, dog, and rabbit. Something doesn't seem right here. As K would say...Way too much testosterone!

Valentine's Day

I love my boys! This is what they surprised me with the night before Valentine's Day. Buzzy couldn't wait. They had went on a shopping trip together and he was about to pop! He had to give me it that night! I think they had a little disagreement over what to get. Steve said that Buzzy just had to have this balloon and flower. Steve wanted to get me something else, but Buzzy wouldn't hear of it. I bet they were a sight in the madness at the store! I wish I could get a copy of the surveillance video! My cheeks hurt from smiling so much. Knowing that Buzzy picked this out himself, made it more special than anything I have ever received for Valentine's Day. He told me "Momma I got this for you because I love you so much." What could ever top that?

It's A......

boy!! We went the Dr. King's today and found out we are having another boy! Everything looked good and healthy. They checked the brain, lungs, heart, liver, kindneys, stomach.....and other things that I can't pronounce, but they said everything looks perfect. Buzzy told everyone that he came in contact with today that he was going to find out if he was going to have a brother or a sister. He also made it clear to everyone that he wanted a sister. When the nurse told him he was going to have a brother, he gritted his teeth and growled and went and sat by the door! He kept saying he was ready to go then! He's acting a little better, but he's still not quite over it yet! I am going to redo my sunporch and make it into the playroom and it is going to be so much easier to decorate it for two boys! We would have loved a little girl, but if it was reversed I would be saying that I would have loved another little boy. All my life I have said that I just wanted boys, so my wish has been granted! Just wanted everyone to know it looks healthy as can be and was for sure a boy!

First clothes

MiMi went shopping today. She is a good MiMi. Everyone got something. She got me more pregnant clothes, Buzzy new swimming trunks, the new baby some onesies, and she got Stevie a rug for the living room!! She found a really good deal on the rug and I told Steve that it was for his feet since she didn't get him anything manly! I love it when MiMi goes shopping!!
I want one of the orange onesies in my size! It says "nappng makes me happy!" Steve thought the white one said "hell or sunshine." Duh. Hello sunshine! Men have no imagination! Steve said that was disrespectful, but I'm leaving it!

That Miss Muffet!

Be sure to watch to the end!

Shish Ka Bombs

"Quit taking my picture Momma!"

Rainy days are good for staying in and eating. Mimi sent us home yesterday with fruit and kabob sticks. As soon as we got home from school today, we had to make shish kabombs (as Buzzy calls them). We had strawberries, apples, grapes, and bananas. Thumper gets to enjoy the leftovers!

This bump's for YOU

I have heard from several of my friends and family members that it was time for a new post. So here it is. I am 16 weeks and one day today. Went to the Dr. today and found out that I have gained NO WEIGHT this far!!! Is that a WOO HOO or is that a WOO HOO??? I guess that since I feel like eating NOTHING, that might have a little to do with it. I had gained a pound last visit, but it was gone this time. Oh well...Such a problem to have, huh?

The Dr. said I am measuring right on and that I need to make sure to take extra iron because I started off anemic, but I guess that's somewhat normal. We will find out in a couple of weeks if we are having a boy or a girl. We don't care, just want a healthy one.

So what's been going on since the last post? Steve has been working his behind off whether at the mill or in the garage. Buzzy had a stomach bug this past week and was sick all night. I thought I had caught it yesterday, but I've decided that I'm just pregnant. Yesterday was mine and Steve's 7th anniversary! He got me roses and took me to Cracker Barrell and I repaid him by being sick all afternoon. MiMi and Pappy have been in FL all week and they like to call daily to tell us how hot they are, and let me listen to the ocean over the phone. At least they are thinking of me, I think?

Christmas Greetings

The elf is gone, forget being nice! His cup plays "Ring of Fire" As most everyone knows, he loves Johnny Cash. Can you tell?
We got Pappy one that plays "Hit the Road Jack" and I was surprised that the batteries weren't dead when we gave it to him. Buzzy played it and played it. I knew he would love his own and that's what he wants his drink in now!

Merry Christmas to everyone that did not get a Christmas card. And that means anyone that doesn't go to our church!! Church family got cards this year and no one else did! Whoops! I had them addressed and ready to go the Friday before Christmas, which meant people might or might not get them, so to be safe, no one got them! Anyway...

We had a great Christmas. Buzzy got "just what he wanted" over and over. Steve and I weren't buying for each other and Christmas Eve morning he shows up with a STACK of presents. Not one or two, a STACK! I had gotten an XBOX for him and Buzzy, but it was ONE present compared to a STACK. I had an emotional breakdown because it brought back our first Christmas when I got him a RC Monster truck and a charger for it and he got me a STACK of presents. I panicked and thanks to MiMi, Pappy, and Heavy, Stevie was shocked with a STACK of his own!! I ended up getting him a winch for his trailer, (to pull wrecked race cars with), a parts washer, and a bar table and chairs for his garage. It's a manly Craftsman one. It will look better than his tile top kitchen table!! He got me all the girly things that I hinted around to wanting and new maternity clothes!!! Woo Hoo! I needed some stretchy pants!! We got enough Christmas money to buy me a new maternity wardrobe and Steve spent his the day or two after on new heads for his motor!! I thought he would use it for a couple sets of tires, but he said he needed heads now, not tires!! I had planned on a new rug for the living room, but those stretchy pants were way more tempting than a rug!!

We went to MIMI's on Christmas night and had such a good time watching the little men play together! Lucas and Buzzy love each other and play so well together. They got to hang out again today at a birthday party for Lucas's cousin Kaylea.

Anyway, we played musical chairs. And if you want to see adults act like children, just come to Mimi and Pappy's on Christmas night and watch when the little envelope prize for the games comes out!! Wendy knocked Aunhee in the floor, and if Stevie hadn't been injured, I think him and Gary would have ended up in the floor too! Such competitors!! Everyone that was eliminated from the game, nearly wet their pants watching the finalist swarm the chairs.

Sleepy Head

Buzzy had a busy day on Wednesday. Between partying, playing at the office, hanging out at MiMi's and then a movie, he was tired. MiMi took me and Buzzy to see Alvin and the Chipmunks last night. It was so cute and Buzzy loved it. They had a scene where Theodore was riding on a monster truck and Buzzy screamed at the end of the scene "BAD CRASH!!!" Thank goodness the other people in the theatre were laughing, because he was loud!

I was on the sunporch blogging, and Stevie called for me to come into the living room. Buzzy had fallen fast asleep sitting up watching TV with his daddy. My flash woke him up and he rolled over and said "I'm just too tired."

Pre-school Christmas Party

Buzzy's Preschool party was on Wednesday. Those kiddos were so excited! When they had the Halloween party, they didn't know what to expect. This is the first year of preschool for, I think, all of them, so they didn't have anything to compare it to. I had spectacular help from some of the other mothers. You would not believe how silly they can act when you don't ask them to help. Since I was the "coordinator" last time too, I tried to get different parents to help this time. The ones that I got last time, that I didn't contact this time acted miffed! There is only so much that you get for a party and you don't need all 12 mothers getting something! One even told the teacher that no one had notified her. Such a tattle-tale!! Who's in pre-school anyway?? Last time I made the buckets, and this time I found cute little Santa bags made out of felt at Target for $1.00 ea. A couple of mothers asked if I had made them too! So funny. Those of you who have little ones and want to help with these sorts of events, GET READY. Mommas can be worse than the children!!

HoHo came to visit at the beginning of the party. He rang his Christmas bells when he was in the hall and those little eyes just shined! They were so excited when he came in. They each got to sit in his lap and tell him what that wanted. Of course, Buzzy wants the......(drum roll please)..............TERRAINIAC! How would you have guessed that one?

This is the whole class with Santa. Back Row Cooper, Buzzy, Maya, Santa, Alex, Trevor, Andrew A, Faith. Front row - Andrew P, Allie, Ryan, Camden, Delaney. They visited with Santa, then had a snack, played "Pin the Nose on the Snowman" and then Musical Chairs. Buzzy told me on Tuesday night and again on Wednesday morning that he was going to win musical chairs this time. Last time, it was down between him and Cooper. This time it was between him and Maya. She snuck in there on him. I was running the radio and when it got down to them two, I closed my eyes, so it would't look like I was letting my kiddo win! When we left school, he asked me why I didn't let him win!! After the games, they drew numbers for their presents, opened them, and then we handed out their treat bags. They seemed to have had a great time, and I was pooped! I don't know how those teachers do it! The next party is Valentines Day, and maybe I'll get asked to do it too!!

Christmas in Dixie

Of course, the pictures are out of order and it's too late to upload them all again. So......
We went to AL this past weekend to celebrate Christmas with Stevie's family. Buzzy got toys on top of toys and each one that he opened was "just what I wanted!!!!!!!" That was a sigh of relief! Before we left. Tisa gave him a Hot Wheels monster truck and he told her that it was a little present and he wanted a big present. I wanted to crawl under the rug. She thought it was hilarious and I still wanted to crawl under the rug. With that said, I think the little talk that we had after the Tisa incident made quite a difference!
In the above picture, he had just unwrapped a Hot wheels track from his uncle Ryan. He said "It's just what I wanted!!!!! My momma won't let me have these and oh, (mwah, mwah,(which also means kiss, kiss)), I just love it." He kept kissing and hugging the box. Can you understand why Grandmother told him he's a drama queen?

He just loves his Uncle Ryan.

He was asleep before we got to Fort Payne, which is about 20 minutes from Ninnies, our last stop before we leave!

This is Ninnie, Steve's Dad's Momma, with her three great-grands. That is Morgan, Garrett, and Buzzy. Buzzy refused to sit by the baby. When we were there at Thanksgiving, he told Grandmother and Ashleigh that he is allergic to babies. He doesn't want to sit anywhere close to her. She is the sweetest, most content, and happy baby I have EVER been around. If Buzzy had been like her, I would have had another one a long time ago. She is so pleasant. I held her every chance I got. I kept telling Buzzy to look at who I had and he didn't really care. Stevie got her and did the same and Buzzy yelled "Give it back to my momma!!!" I can't believe that he was jealous over his Daddy!!!! Puh-lease!

Uncle Ryan was such a hero to the little fellers. He brought out the boogie board and drug them back and forth from the kitchen to the living room. Buzzy isn't ever sure about Garrett. He doesn't want to share his toys with Garrett, but if Garrett had something that looked good, suddenly he was pretty cool! When we got ready to leave, Buzzy teared up and said he wasn't done playing. I was so glad that they had a good time. He has a buddy in Garrett! Maybe someday he will like "that baby" and let her in on his and Garrett's games!

What? Two Posts in One Day?

Just when I thought I had no exciting pictures from over Thanksgiving, I am surprised. Buzzy got to dress up as either a Pilgrim or an Indian for his Thanksgiving dinner at school. Of course, he wanted to be an Indian. I did not know that when they say "no elaborate costumes needed" that the whole room shows up in the full garb. I was sooooo afraid that he was going to be mad at me, because all he wore was his head dress. Thank goodness there were, I think, three other children that didn't dress up at all. He didn't say anything when I picked him up, but at least he had something to wear!

Every time I leave my camera unattended in Alabama, I get a surprise when I get home. This is my favorite cousin-in-law, Dave. When I first met him, he was 14 and I thought he would NEVER grow up. He always asked questions at the wrong time, in front of the wrong people. Thank goodness he never shook Steve, but there were several times that I wanted to kill him, and then promptly kill myself!! Dave always makes my trips south fun! I think if Steve and I ever divorced, Dave would still be my cousin!! I just love him and his sister and his parents!!

Yes, it's December 1st, and we had our first cookout! Buzzy and Steve mowed and played in the yard today. I looked up to a terrible commotion on the back deck. I could not, for the life of me, figure out what Buzzy was carrying. He had the stand to this fire thingy and a big wad of paper that appeared to be a camo jacket. He opened the door and yelled with excitement, to get some hotdogs and smores. We're havin' a campfire!!! He was so excited and so serious about his cooking. At first I thought it was too cold, but it ended up being a great idea. We had hotdogs, Doritos, and smores for dessert!! Banjo got a hot dog and some marshmellows and graham crackers! We had to include everyone in the festivities!

MIA

Thank you for all of the emails wondering where I have been. Not been anywhere but the couch lately. I had convinced myself that I wasn't pregnant anymore since I hadn't been having the pregnancy symptoms. Was a blubbering mess last Sunday, because I was sure that there wasn't going to be a baby. Went to the Dr. on Monday and since I was not far enough along to hear a heartbeat on the doppler, they did an ultrasound to make sure everything was alright. And there it was...a little body with a really strong heartbeat!!! Then the getting sick began. Got sick Monday night, twice Tuesday and Wednesday, and just once Thursday and Friday. Today I haven't been sick at all. The little stinker had a heartbeat of 170 and was measuring a week ahead of it's actual age. When I called Steve to tell him everything was alright, I also told him that it had long legs already and they told me it was going to be really tall!!! That's kind of a joke between us, because it seems everyone's Dr. tells them that but mine!! My Dr. told me Buzzy was going to be an "average size baby" and he ended up being 9 pounds, 10 oz.! There were several people that had babies before and even shortly after Buzzy that told me they were having large babies that ended up being of normal size. Not that Buzzy was a giant or anything, but he was not "average." When he was born, they passed him around between the nurses and Dr. King making bets at how much he weighed. Dr. King said he was 10 lbs. and I thought he was joking. He ended up being the closest guesser. I guess that's good since he's in charge of bringing them into the world!! I was so relieved to see that little person in there and to see that heartbeat! There have been so many sick babies born to people that I know recently, and even though I think that it doesn't bother me, I believe that subconciously it does. I told my friend K just today that I have heard of more sick babies lately, than well babies. Just seeing that strong little heart and that little body that measured a smidget bit bigger than it was supposed to be, made me feel so much better. Now, if this belly would just start growing a little! I had lost 3 pounds since the last time I weighed. I don't want to gain, but not gaining in these first 8 weeks made me feel pretty good too. Next time I go, I will probably have gained 10 pounds!! Until next time.....
