Two Birthdays and a Vacation

June has been an extremely busy month for me. We have had two birthdays, a vacation, a Father's Day Supper, and a fish pond installation! The order was Buzzy's birthday, Florida vacation, Father's Day Supper, Fish pond installation and then Henry's birthday party. My pictures are in every order but the right order but at least I'm posting, right?

MiMi and Pappy joined us in Florida four days after we arrived. Our time together there was short, but we had a wonderful time anyway. This was the first vacation that we have went on with my parents in several years. Vacationing with two children was quite a different experience for my parents.

Buzzy spent as much time as possible in the ocean or on the beach.
"Mom," he said to me while we were swimming together. "The beach is the place to be during summer break." I totally agreed!
Henry loves a good sandbox, so we thought the beach would be heavenly for him. His reaction wasn't near what we were expecting! He was fine with his swimming shoes on, but he did not like all that sand on him! By the end of our trip, he had finally started playing with Buzzy in the sand!

Buzzy had a birthday party with just family this year. As long as there were presents, he was happy!

Steve's parents and grandmother were able to attend Buzzy's party, as well as my family.

Henry's party was after we came back from Florida. We had it at the lake house. Henry had been under the weather and didn't smile or act interested in anything birthday related. That is, until the candles came out!

He loved those candles!

Henry was not interested in presents when he had a big crowd watching him. NaNa took him to the basement and he opened everything while just a couple of us were watching.

The Tuesday after Father's Day, I had supper for Steve, my dad, and my papaw. We had home-made stuffed peppers, mac & cheese, corn, baby lima beans, mashed potatoes and pie! It was yummy, if I do say so myself. MiMi brought the potatoes and NaNa the pies. I didn't want to take all of the credit!

Fun in the Mud

My parents have a creek/ditch running through the field in front of their house. Steve has been trying to cross this ditch since they moved into their house almost 10 years ago. He has yet to succeed. He has to remind himself every year or so that it's difficult to cross.
I'm not sure if he was trying to "ditch" his wife or mother-in-law! As soon as the wheels started spinning, he jumped off and left us stuck in the mud!

Buzzy was extremely supportive! He played in the water while we waited to be rescued. Pappy's bad day ended a little better when he had to pull Steve out of the mud. I don't know what it is with their egos and mud. Their chests swell up when one has to ask the other for help when they are buried in mud. It's rather funny watching these two nag each other over their sticky situations!

Henry was saying "Cheese" but I don't think he was convinced that that crusty stuff was supposed to be on his cheek!

We have had a little dirt work done in our back yard. The boys have enjoyed playing in the dirt, but their Daddy has too!

My chest swelled a bit when Steve had to ask me for help too! I drove and he pushed, but still, he needed help from a girl!

I am such a lucky girl. I have a pool boy.

Fair Time Again!

Summer would not be official without a trip to the County Fair! The unassembled rides appeared last weekend, and Buzzy knew the fair couldn't be far away! Opening night, Buzzy had a baseball game so we couldn't go that night. The second and last night of the fair were the only nights that we could possibly make it. The rain held off and meteorologists Steve Ashley said we could go!
This was Henry's first "real" trip to the fair. Last year he just rode around in his stroller, but this year was quite a different experience! He wanted to do everything! He rode rides and played games and even won his very own goldfish!
Henry was thrilled to hook a fish on his first attempt!

The Fogle's met us at the fair and all of the boys had a great time!

Henry wanted to ride anything and everything! He would get so mad when he couldn't instantly get onto the ride. The faster the ride went, the more he loved it!

Cooper & Buzzy on the Himalayan. Last year, Buzzy put Cooper on the outside and nearly squashed him!

Cole is just hilarious!

Cooper is a better big brother than Buzzy! He rode anything that Henry wanted to ride!

On our way to the fair, Buzzy announced to us that if he won two goldfish, he was giving one to Cooper! He won two right away and Cooper became the proud owner of a goldfish! Buzzy ended up winning one more. We came home with three goldfish that have made themselves at home in my fish pond!
We had a great time. We always go happy and leave sad. Buzzy wanted to stay longer and Henry was upset that he couldn't ride anymore rides! Thank goodness it only comes once a year!

Summer Vacation

We kicked Summer Vacation off in a great way! We spent the weekend at the lakehouse with MiMi & Pappy. We had such a great time relaxing, swimming, and pontoon riding! I didn't take very many pictures at all, so this is it for our weekend review!

The boys had such a great time playing with the toys that they had forgotten that they had. Henry LOVES the water and was jumping from the boat within a matter of minutes! Buzzy is still cautious, still needing his lifejacket and noodle at all times! After the snake incident last summer, he's been afraid to swim on the shore at the house. He mentioned something about the snake last week, to which I assured him that Pappy has a gun at the ready to shoot the snake - he doesn't....yet! It must have worked, because Buzzy swam at the dock without a hesitation!

Since I let Thumper II escape, Buzzy & I made a trip to the annual Memorial Day Flea Market Extravaganza at Luke's to scope out a new bunny. One bunny turned to two, so now we have to flop-ear bunnies. They assured me that they were two males. They told me that females will fight when they get older, so two boys were the way to go. Buzzy says their names are Jamie & Adam - after the MythBuster's host's, but I have named them Phen & Ferb. We'll see which sticks!

Call me a "Suck-Up" because Steve did. I made this tote bag for Buzzy's teacher. In my opinion, she was the best! Buzzy told me the second or third week of school that he had the best Kindergarten teacher and still felt the same on the last day of school. She was awesome and I can only pray that he gets more teachers just like her! I gave her this tote with a beach towel, drink holder and a gift card. She was worth every bit of it and much more!

Chicken Dance

A couple of weeks ago, Buzzy and I were out checking on our two remaining chickens and the hen was missing. I opened up their coop/dollhouse and she was perched high up on the nesting ledge. We have a little door that opens to where you can see directly in on the nest and sure enough she was sitting on eggs. Eight to be exact. She has set and set and set and set. We haven't seen her out of the coop but a couple times since we found out what she was up to. I was hopeful that we would hatch chicks, but doubted it would actually happen.
Today, we were out in the yard and Buzzy noticed that she was out of the hen house. Buzzy and I saw the chicks at about the same time and he went running. I walked super swiftly! Sure enough she had two little chicks following her around and another inside of the house. It was having a terrible fit because it couldn't figure out how to get out!
After oohing and aahing for a bit, Buzzy lost interest and went about his business. I decided to look in the nest area to see if there were anymore. Sure enough, there was one more runty little chick, still wet from the egg. I put it out with the others, now wishing that I had let it be. It was having a hard time getting going, but I hope tonight it will get stronger. When I checked right before dark, she had settled on the ground with the four little chicks snug as bugs underneath her. They were so darn cute. I wasn't planning on adding anymore chickens to our flock, but I guess this will be okay!
Momma with three of the four chicks.
Daddy, Momma, and three chicken littles!

Long Time, No See!

Hello to my blogging friends - I think there are two of you! Sorry I've been missing for some time. This pretty weather has kept us busy and my blog has been neglected. I PROMISE to do better...maybe ;-)!

As you know, I have started sewing and loving every minute of it! I just can't get my priorities in order. I would rather sew than clean, do laundry, cook supper, ya know all of that REAL domestic stuff! I have finished one quilt, but started several others! My grandmother's is just waiting for me to quilt it and then it can go home to her. I plan to start posting picture, (GASP! WHAT!?!), of my projects!

So here is the most recent finished project. My friend Kim had twin baby boys the first of this month. Of course, I never deliver gifts on time, so she will be receiving these sometime before their first birthdays! I have finished the blue baby quilt and have the red one to do. These were very easy and I could have finished one in one afternoon, but.... Steve and Henry didn't agree with my idea of Sunday afternoon fun!

These quilts are so soft! It has chenille squares on the front and the entire back is chenille. When I showed it to Steve, he wanted to know why his quilt didn't have that "soft stuff" on it! Guess he'll be getting another. I am participating in a Quilt Festival at http://www.amyscreativeside.com/2010/05/bloggers-quilt-festival-spring-2010.html. I wish I knew how to get her cute logo uploaded, but I haven't figured that one out yet!

IT FINALLY WORKED!!!

This wil eventually become the second quilt. Hopefully I can get to it sooner than later, so these don't end up being birthday presents!

For those of you that care nothing about my latest obsession, this is a little HI fro Henry! Thanks to the sunbrella on his new sandbox from MiMi, he got to play in the downpour while Steve and I watched from inside the house. Henry would wave and blow kisses and say cheese until the thunder rumbled! He was done then! His little legs couldn't get him in fast enough!

Buzzy was surprised with some special graduation gifts and wanted to send Thank You notes. He did a great job with his writing. He told me what he wanted to say, I wrote it, then he copied it into his cards.

Stay tuned! More crafty stuff to come!

Steve's Quilt

Steve tried out his quilt tonight! It's almost done! As Steve says when I ask if his car is ready for the race, "All I like is finishing up!" I have worked my little self to death trying to "finish up!" My NaNa has one lesson left, then I can wash it and turn it over to it's new owner! The pattern called for 6 squares x 6 squares. Since Steve is so tall, I had to customize it for him! His quilt is 5 squares x 8 squares! I had to make sure his tootsies stay covered!
